HOW TO HOOP

  1. Make sure you have a hoop that is big enough for you.

  2. Put one foot in front of the other.

  3. Hold hoop at waist level against your back.

  4. Push the hoop around your waist.

  5. Shift weight back and forth to keep hoop up.

  6. Smile and keep trying!  Soon you'll be a super duper hooper!

BASIC HOOP CARE

Our hoops are made to be well-loved, which means they may not stay shiny new-looking forever.  However, there are some basic guidelines to help you keep your hoop looking its best.

RESHAPING

If your hoop gets bent out of shape (and really, don’t we all sometimes?), try putting it outside in the warm sun for an hour.  It should happily spread back into its original circle.

If you don’t have a sunny spot, try using a warm hair dryer to reshape the circle.

You can also gently bend it, but be careful not to use too much pressure. While our hoops are sturdy, they are not designed to withstand extreme pressure.  If you put all of your body weight on the hoop while it is standing, it will likely bend or weaken.

SURFACE CARE

If your hoop gets surface scuffs, try gently rubbing the spot with a tiny bit of fingernail polish remover.

For deeper scuffs, try covering the spot with clear tape or clear fingernail polish.

 HOOPING TIPS
  • It's easier to rock hips back and forth than to make a circle.
  • If your hoop starts to fall, try spinning faster.
  • Most right-handed people spin their hoops counter clockwise. Lefties tend to go clockwise. Try switching directions for a challenge.
  • Try hooping while walking or climbing stairs.
  • Try turning while hooping. Now the other way!
  • Don’t give up! It’s fun when you get the hang of it.

A FEW HOOPDY-Don’ts

1.  To keep your hoop scuff-free, don’t hoop on gravel or rough rocks.  Grass or flooring are preferable.

2.  Don’t drag your hoop along the ground if you can help it.  Rather, lift it up and carry it over your shoulder.

3.  You probably won’t poke your eye out with a hoop, but you might bonk a little person in the head if you’re not careful.  Don’t hoop too close to people or furniture.
